Multi-Angle Light Blending | Traxon e:cue Illuminates the World’s First Lightweight Steel-Concrete Cable-Stayed Bridge
There are six bridges across the Yangtze River in Nanjing, serves as vital transportation arteries spanning the north and south, linking Nanjing’s bustling urban districts with the future development zones. As the fifth bridge in this series, the Nanjing Jiangxinzhou Yangtze River Bridge connects Jiangxinzhou in Jianye District with the Jiangbei New Area in Pukou District. Stretching across the mighty Yangtze River, it stands like a radiant pearl embedded in the city’s skyline. Adjacent to landmarks such as the Nanjing Eye and the Youth Olympic Games Twin Towers, the Jiangxinzhou Bridge plays a pivotal role in urban mobility while leaving an indelible mark on urban aesthetics and cultural heritage.
Precision Lighting Showcasing Architectural Beauty
The bridge’s lighting design is inspired by themes of “Golden Mountains, Green Waters,” “Moonlit Waves,” and “Jiangnan Melodies,” infusing the bridge with unique cultural depth and visual splendor. Traxon e:cue’s design consultant, Lu Si, remarked, “Endless nights of testing, feeling the river breeze, and witnessing the moon’s cycles—our goal was to narrate Nanjing’s story through light.”
Sleek & Lightweight Structure in Light
The bridge’s central cable-stayed design uniquely showcases the bridge’s slender and lightweight structure. Traxon e:cue deployed 72 sets of high-power LED RGB beam lights (150W & 300W) with 5°, 10°, and 20° beam angle in a multi-angle hybrid lighting combination. These precisely illuminate the six longest cables on each side, with the lights sketching the cables’ strength like brushstrokes. The main tower, with its diamond-like form, is highlighted using floodlighting, while the illuminated cables extend like arms from the structure, blending strength with elegance.
Advanced Installation & Light Control
The lighting on large bridges demands exceptionally high standards for fixture mounting, light color application, and glare control. Lighting fixtures must possess strong anti-vibration performance to prevent detachment caused by wind and traffic vibrations. Nightscape lighting colors must not interfere with navigation channel lights or create misleading visual cues. Glare control requirements are particularly stringent, as excessive glare not only compromises traffic safety but also disrupts video surveillance systems
Fine-Tuned Illumination
Traxon’s LED beam lights, positioned with laser alignment and drone assistance, precisely capture every structural detail. Linear and wall-wash lights discreetly highlight the bridge deck, enhancing both its lightness and strength.
Intelligent Control System
The lighting is powered by Traxon’s LCE FX controller and Sympholight 5.0 software, elevating the bridge’s artistic expression. “Sympholight 5.0 is more than software—it’s an enabler of creativity,” says Lu Si. The project underwent meticulous simulation, testing, and on-site calibration, ensuring seamless execution of the lighting vision.
