Easa Saleh Al Gurg Mosque

Dubai,

United Arab Emirates

The Easa Saleh Al Gurg Mosque (also known as the Burjuman Mosque and Juma Masjid) was built in the heart of Karama (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) in 2012.

Named after its benefactor, the Easa Saleh Al Gurg mosque sits on a 20,000 square foot plot of land and features one of Dubai’s biggest mosque domes that is approximately 11 meters in diameter, and a minaret standing at 60 meters tall.

This exquisite mosque embodies traditional Islamic architecture with its intricate geometric designs and gilded Arabic calligraphy highlighting verses of the holy Quran. The mosque is generously spacious and can host a congregation of up to 1,300 worshippers. It has a separate ladies prayer section and includes traditional washrooms on the ground level and accommodation for the imam (prayer leader), muezzin (prayer caller) and watchman on the first level.

The Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation was formed in October 2010 by the Al Gurg family, and in keeping with the founder’s wishes, the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Mosque was built to act as a holy sanctuary for worshipers right at the epicenter of one of the busiest parts of the city of Dubai.

Traxon e:cue partnered with Scientechnic Lighting Solutions (a member of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group) to enhance the regal beauty of this mosque by dusk. The Traxon Linear Go Midi proved to be the perfect choice for highlighting intricate calligraphy detailing on the facade as this product was created to light up largescale facades and architectural landmarks with homogenous narrow asymmetric illumination.

The dome and minaret of the mosque were highlighted with the Traxon Washer Go. This high-powered luminaire is the perfect choice for distinguishing key features of an architectural structure as it offers a powerful symmetrical wash-illumination making both the dome and minaret stand out from an impressive distance in the night sky.

“We managed to complete this lighting assignment on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan and has managed to exemplify the existing beauty of the architecture from a considerable distance. The intricate golden calligraphy on the façade of the mosque and the majestic dome and minaret are sights to behold, and its grandeur has now been further enhanced with the installation of the Traxon Linear Go Midi and Washer Go by dusk.” – Kamel Fawaz (Vice President, Scientechnic Lighting Solutions).
